The NBA isn’t shy about handing out fines for various reasons. Whether it’s a flagrant foul, criticizing the referees, media slip-ups, or something else, players, teams, coaches, and even owners can all feel the sting. Frankly, some individuals are more prone to these fines than others.
Draymond Green is a prime example. The Golden State Warriors veteran is known for his no-holds-barred approach, which has occasionally landed him in hot water. This season alone, he’s racked up major fines for separate incidents involving choking out Rudy Gobert and swinging at Jusuf Nurkic.
Knowing a thing or two about fines himself, Green recently chimed in on the topic in light of Jamal Murray’s fine for throwing a heat pack onto the court. Speaking more generally, Green made it clear that he’s not a fan of these fines because they hurt the players’ ability to stay wealthy.
“It’s actually not set up for us to be wealthy after we’re done playing… It took my mom 4 years when I was growing up to make $100k. And I lose that a night because, what?”
