After missing the playoffs last season, the Sacramento Kings didn’t waste any time retooling their roster in hopes of competing next season. With this, they made a big splash acquiring DeMar DeRozan from the Chicago Bulls.
DeRozan averaged 24.0 points on 48.0% shooting from the field last season. By signing DeRozan, the Kings added a bonafide scorer and clutch performer to help ease the load off De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis
However, despite DeRozan’s proven track record, former player turned NBA analyst Rashad McCants isn’t specifically convinced on the veteran star himself. Not mincing words, McCants doesn’t think DeRozan is a scorer and someone who can get you a bucket.
“He can score. He’s not a scorer. You can go get buckets in a variety of manners. Richard Hamilton wasn’t a scorer, he was a great shooter. He was a great mid-range shooter, there ain’t no go get me a bucket. Nah, DeMar ain’t going to get me a bucket, definitely not. But he can score.”
