In a recent statement, Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia emphasized the long-term vision for the team, dispelling any notions that their current roster was assembled for a short-term push. Ishbia’s comments come amid heightened expectations following significant roster changes and the acquisition of star players like Kevin Durant.

Ishbia made it clear that the Suns’ strategy is not about quick fixes but about building a sustainable, competitive team.

“We didn’t put our team together for a one-year try,” Ishbia stated. “Our goal is to create a foundation that will allow us to compete at the highest level for many years to come”.

The Suns have made bold moves in the past year, including trading for Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, which has significantly raised the team’s profile and expectations. Ishbia acknowledged the pressure but remained optimistic about the team’s future.

“The narrative that the house is burning is incorrect,” he said. “The Phoenix Suns are doing great. Excellent. Not as good as we want to be. Not as good as we’re going to do next year”.

Ishbia also addressed the financial aspects of building a championship team. He noted that while other teams might be cautious about spending due to new NBA financial regulations, the Suns are committed to investing in their roster.

“We see other teams hiding from spending, but we believe in our strategy and are willing to invest in our players to achieve our goals”.

As the Suns prepare for the upcoming season, Ishbia’s comments underscore a commitment to excellence and a belief in the team’s potential.

“We are constantly evaluating and tweaking our approach to ensure we are in the best position to win a championship,” he said. “This is not just about one season; it’s about building a legacy”.
