Thanks to his strong efforts for Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics, more and more people are starting to appreciate what Bam Adebayo is able to do on the basketball floor.
The 27-year-old big man has been a constant force on the defensive end and is versatile enough to adjust his role on offense based on the team’s needs.
Last game against Puerto Rico, Adebayo was able to contribute all around, going for 3 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. And when the team needed him the most prior to that game, he led the team in scoring with 18 points against South Sudan.
Adebayo’s impressive showing has now reignited discussions about the Miami Heat’s core. NBA analyst Ramona Shelburne believes the team should give the keys to Adebayo rather than continuing to build around Jimmy Butler.
“I think they need to give the keys to Bam Adebayo. It’s been coming for a few years. They’ve been built around Jimmy Butler, but Jimmy Butler has not been available. Some of that is injuries, some of that is how he manages his injuries in the regular season and that’s how he approaches the regular season. But the Heat were 21st on offense last year, Bam is capable of giving them more scoring. When he gets going he can hit the three-ball, hit the midrange.”
