After a decade-long career in the NBA, Jeremy Lamb has officially announced his retirement from professional basketball. The 32-year-old guard shared the news on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the sport that has been a significant part of his life.

Jeremy Lamb’s NBA journey began when he was selected by the Houston Rockets with the 12th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. However, he was quickly traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he spent the first three years of his career. Lamb’s time with the Thunder was marked by his development as a reliable role player, contributing to the team’s depth.

In 2015, Lamb moved to the Charlotte Hornets, where he found a more prominent role. Over four seasons with the Hornets, he averaged 11.9 points per game and became known for his clutch performances, including a memorable game-winning, buzzer-beating half-court shot in 2019.

Lamb later joined the Indiana Pacers, where he continued to be a valuable asset off the bench. His career, however, faced challenges due to injuries, including a significant knee injury that impacted his playing time. Despite these setbacks, Lamb remained a consistent performer, averaging 10.1 points and 3.6 rebounds over his 10-year NBA career.

Before his NBA career, Lamb was a standout player at the University of Connecticut. He played a crucial role in UConn’s 2011 NCAA Championship win, alongside notable teammates like Kemba Walker and Shabazz Napier. Lamb’s college success set the stage for his professional journey, showcasing his scoring ability and defensive prowess.

In his retirement announcement, Lamb reflected on the impact basketball has had on his life.

“Basketball has been good to me throughout my entire life, so this decision didn’t come easy,” he wrote. “But I have decided to retire from the game that has given me everything”.
