The atmosphere was electric as fans packed the arena to witness the 2024 Olympic Golde Medal game between Team USA and France. Among the many celebrity spectators were many former NBA stars. Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol, Tony Parker, Carmelo Anthony, and Stephon Marbury were sitting courtsied, and this is only naming a few of the legendary players who came to see this Final in person.
In Marbury’s case, little did he know, he would soon find himself providing an impromptu play-by-play call of one of the most iconic moments in recent basketball history.
The game was tightly contested, however, it was Curry’s heroics in the fourth quarter that ultimately secured the win for the United States.
Curry, known for his sharpshooting and clutch performances in the NBA, brought his A-game to the global stage. With Team USA trailing by a few points in the final minutes, Curry took over. He scored 19 of his 24 points in the last three minutes of the game, showcasing his incredible range and composure under pressure
The final minutes of the game were a masterclass in clutch shooting. Curry hit four three-pointers in quick succession, each one more difficult than the last. His ability to create space and knock down shots over defenders left the French team scrambling. One of the most memorable moments was a deep three-pointer over two defenders, which effectively sealed the game for Team USA.
This Curry play, also was the reason for Marbury’s play-by-play calling from the sidelines to go viral.
Marbury, ever the basketball aficionado, couldn’t help but narrate the unfolding drama.
“Chef Curry with the ball. He goes to the right, he goes to the right… he throws it to KD. KD throws it back to Steph. Steph got the ball behind the back… Oh no! DON’T DO THAT! DON’T DO THAT! AHHHHHHHH!”
