Despite winning the 2024 NBA championship and being named to the All-NBA First Team, Jayson Tatum found himself relegated to the bench during the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Boston Celtics superstar didn’t play in two games, including the semifinal win against Serbia.
Team USA head coach Steve Kerr called Tatum’s limited playing time a ‘math problem,’ highlighting the difficulty of rotating 11 players into a single game. Though Tatum saw more minutes in the gold medal game against France, it wasn’t enough to satisfy him.
Taking to Instagram, Tatum now hints at a desire for redemption, sharing a screenshot of a disgruntled fan vowing to avenge him.
“WE WILL AVENGE JAYSON TATUM.”
The 26-year-old Celtics forward previously admitted that it was difficult to accept a limited role at the time, calling the situation both challenging and humbling.
Per ESPN:
“…Part of being in the moment, I’ve sacrificed and put a lot into this game and work really, really hard. So in the moment it is tough. You’re not necessarily worried about fueling me for November or [whenever] the season is, but like I said, it’s something I’m going to take away from this and learn from this experience. It’s definitely challenging and humbling at the same time.”
