In a recent interview, former Houston Rockets forward Danuel House Jr. revisited the controversial incident that led to his suspension from the 2020 NBA Bubble. House was accused of violating the NBA’s strict COVID-19 protocols by allegedly sneaking a woman into his hotel room at the Disney World complex in Orlando. However, House has consistently denied these allegations, maintaining his innocence.
During the 2020 NBA playoffs, the league implemented a “bubble” environment to protect players and staff from COVID-19. House was suspended after reports surfaced that he had unauthorized contact with a female COVID-19 testing official. This led to his removal from the bubble and missing crucial playoff games for the Rockets.
In a recent podcast appearance, House provided his side of the story. He described the events leading up to the incident, stating that he was in his room following his usual pre-game routine when NBA security personnel arrived. According to House, they conducted a search of his room but found no unauthorized person.
“There was no chick in my room,”
House emphasized, expressing frustration over how the situation was handled.
House also mentioned that the woman in question was eventually found elsewhere in the building, further supporting his claim of innocence. He expressed deep disappointment, noting that the incident derailed what he believed could have been a breakout moment in his career.
The suspension had significant repercussions for House’s career. He missed the remainder of the playoffs, and the incident cast a shadow over his professional reputation. Despite his denials, the NBA’s decision stood, and House has since moved on, playing for various teams but never quite regaining the momentum he had during the 2020 season.
