Following a Lakers practice session, LeBron James took a moment to reflect on his recent experience teaming up with Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The two basketball legends, who have often been rivals on the court, finally had the chance to play together for Team USA, leading them to a gold medal victory.
“It was everything and more,” James said, his eyes lighting up as he recalled the experience. “I was super excited to be able to finally team up with him in that type of atmosphere. That’s what it was, being part of the Olympics. It was everything I’d dreamed of and aspired to want to be a part of that team, along with Steph.”
James and Curry quickly developed a strong chemistry on the court, with both players showcasing their incredible skills and leadership. Curry, who had a slow start in the tournament, exploded in the final two games, finishing as Team USA’s leading scorer. James, who was named the MVP of the tournament, praised Curry’s performance and their mutual respect.
“Steph was incredible,” James said. “He struggled a bit early on, but he really came through when it mattered most. We had a great connection, and it was amazing to see him play at such a high level.”
The successful partnership between James and Curry led to speculation about a possible future collaboration in the NBA. However, James remained realistic about the chances of that happening.
“I have no idea,” he said when asked if he would ever play alongside Curry in the NBA. “The chances of the Lakers pulling off a trade for Steph are probably about the same as an asteroid colliding with the Earth.”
Despite the slim odds, James expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to team up with Curry and the memories they created.
“It was a great experience, and something I’ll remember from my basketball career for the rest of my life,” he said.
