Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone couldn’t resist poking fun at the concept of “MVP voter fatigue” during a recent post-game press conference. Despite Nikola Jokic’s incredible start to the season, Malone sarcastically suggested that Jokic might only rank fifth in MVP voting.
Jokic has been nothing short of spectacular, averaging a near-30-point triple-double with 29.7 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 11.7 assists per game. He’s also leading the league in rebounds and assists, and shooting an impressive 56.4% from beyond the arc.
Yet, Malone joked that Jokic’s stellar performances might not be getting the recognition they deserve due to voter fatigue.
“So, I guess he’ll just have to do more for us, Malone said.”

Malone’s comments highlight the absurdity of the situation, as Jokic continues to dominate the league and lead the Nuggets to a 7-3 record. The coach’s humor underscores the frustration of seeing such a phenomenal player potentially overlooked due to repetitive accolades.
Despite the jesting tone, Malone’s remarks also reflect the genuine admiration he has for Jokic’s abilities.
“It’s getting harder and harder to find new ways to describe his greatness,” Malone added. “He’s truly the best player in the world right now.”
As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see if Jokic can overcome this so-called voter fatigue and secure yet another MVP award.
