In a thrilling game that came down to the wire, the Utah Jazz narrowly defeated the Dallas Mavericks, 115-113, at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City on Thursday night. Despite a stellar performance from Luka Doncic, who racked up 37 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, it was a defensive mishap that ultimately cost the Mavericks the game.

The game was tightly contested throughout, with both teams exchanging leads multiple times in the final minutes. With the score tied at 113-113, the Jazz executed a perfect play, culminating in a game-winning dunk by John Collins with just 6.4 seconds remaining. Doncic, who had been instrumental in keeping the Mavericks in the game, was caught off guard defensively, allowing Collins to slip behind him for the easy basket.

The loss is particularly tough for the Mavericks, who are now on a four-game losing streak. Doncic, who has been under scrutiny for his defensive efforts this season, took responsibility for the lapse, admitting that it was a misunderstanding on the court.

“It was a misunderstanding. I thought I was going to go hit, and Grimes thought he was going to go hit. And it was a lob, so we misunderstood the bench. That’s on me.”

NBA Twitter though, absolutely destroyed Doncic for falling asleep on defense. Here are some of the best reactions.
