In a candid post-game interview, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards didn’t hold back when discussing his team’s recent struggles.
Following a 115-104 loss to the Sacramento Kings, which marked the Timberwolves’ fourth consecutive defeat, Edwards delivered a brutally honest assessment of the team’s performance.
“We thought defense was our identity, and it’s not looking like that at all,” Edwards said. “Our identity right now, me and Mike [Conley] was talking about it, we’re soft as hell as a team. Internally. Not to the other team, but internally, we’re soft. We can’t talk to each other. Just a bunch of little kids. Just like we’re playing with a bunch of little kids. Everybody, the whole team. We just can’t talk to each other. We’ve got to figure it out, man, because we can’t go down this road.”

Edwards’ comments highlight the frustration within the Timberwolves’ locker room as they struggle to find their footing this season. Despite a promising start, the team has now lost seven of their last nine games, and Edwards believes that a lack of communication and internal cohesion is to blame.
“We’ve been trying to figure this out for the whole year, man,” Edwards continued. “Everybody’s got their own agendas, and we’re not listening to the coaches. It’s like, what the f**k am I supposed to say? I’m trying to get better in that aspect to figure out what the hell to say to get everybody on the same agenda because everybody right now is on different agendas. And I think that’s one of the main culprits of why we’re losing.”
The Timberwolves will need to address these issues if they hope to turn their season around. The team has the talent to compete, but it will require a concerted effort to improve communication and teamwork.
