Eight years ago today, on December 5, 2016, Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors delivered one of the most remarkable performances in NBA history.

In a dominant 142-106 victory over the Indiana Pacers, through three quarters Thompson scored an astounding 60 points in just 29 minutes. This incredible feat made him the first player since the shot clock era to score 60 points in less than 30 minutes.

Thompson’s scoring spree began early, as he racked up 17 points in the first quarter alone. He continued his onslaught in the second quarter, adding 23 points, and then scored 20 more in the third quarter to reach the 60-point mark. Coach Steve Kerr pulled Thompson from the game with 1:22 remaining in the third quarter.

His shot chart for the game was a testament to his efficiency, as he made 21 of 33 field goals and 8 of 14 three-pointers, more notably even that he only took 11 dribbles all day long.

After the game, Thompson expressed his satisfaction and gratitude for the amazing night.

“I felt great, obviously,” he told NBA TV during a post-game interview. “It was fun. I was in a great rhythm. I took all good shots, for the most part. Still missed a few wide-open threes I wish I could get back. It was a fun night, to say the least.”
