Lakers And Clippers Will Play Simultaneous Home Games Tonight For First Time Since 1999

At the start of this NBA season, the Los Angeles Clippers officially moved into their new state-of-the-art arena, the Intuit Dome, located in Inglewood, California. This marked a significant milestone for the franchise as they stepped out from the shadow of their crosstown rivals, the Lakers, and establish their own identity.

Moving to their new home now also enables both teams to host games simultaneously once again. So, tonight, for the first time in over 25 years, the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers will both host home games simultaneously. The last time both LA teams played home games at the same time was on May 5, 1999.

On that day in 1999, the Clippers played at the LA Sports Arena, narrowly losing to the Seattle SuperSonics, 107-105. Meanwhile, the Lakers, playing at The Great Western Forum secured a dominant 119-91 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

This time, the Lakers will tip-off against the Portland Trail Blazers at Crypto.com Arena, while the Clippers will face the Golden State Warriors at the Intuit Dome. But while this will be the first time since 1999, it will become a regularity for years to come.
