During Friday night’s game between the Orlando Magic and Toronto Raptors, Jalen Suggs was rushed off the court in a wheelchair after suffering a severe back injury. The incident occurred in the second quarter when Suggs, while attempting to make a steal, fell to the floor in visible agony.

Despite no apparent contact with another player, Suggs clutched his lower back and remained on the floor for several minutes before being helped onto a wheelchair.

The Magic’s medical team quickly attended to Suggs, and he was wheeled off the court to a standing ovation from the Scotiabank Arena crowd.

Suggs, who was averaging career highs of 16.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game this season, will undergo further evaluation.

This latest injury adds to a string of misfortunes for the Magic, who have been plagued by injuries to key players throughout the season. Forward Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner are both recovering from torn oblique injuries, while Moe Wagner has been ruled out for the season due to a torn ACL.
