It was a heartbreaking game night for Los Angeles Lakers fans as their team narrowly lost to the Charlotte Hornets, 100-97, on Wednesday. The loss was particularly agonizing because of two missed game-tying three-point shots by LeBron James in the final seconds of the game.
Despite a strong performance from LeBron, who scored 16 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, the Lakers couldn’t capitalize on his efforts. With just seconds left on the clock, LeBron missed two crucial three-point attempts that could have tied the game. The first shot missed, and even after grabbing the offensive rebound, his second attempt fell short at the buzzer.
The disappointment was palpable among Lakers fans, who took to social media to express their frustration. Many fans felt that LeBron let them down in the game’s final moments.

Would Kobe or Jordan missed those shots? I think not. Top three? gimmie a break. On top of that – he’s not humble. Yikes.

On the other hand, some fans pointed out that the Lakers’ overall performance, including poor shooting from other players, contributed to the loss. Luka Doncic, who was making his third appearance for the Lakers, struggled with his shooting, going 5-for-18 from the field and 1-for-9 from beyond the arc. The team’s shooting woes were evident as they shot a season-high 51 times from three-point range but made only 15 (29.4%).
Despite the loss, LeBron remained composed and acknowledged the team’s efforts.
“We executed the play, we just didn’t make it,” he said after the game.
As the Lakers regroup and prepare for their next game, fans are hopeful that LeBron and the team can bounce back and deliver the performances they are known for. They will have a chance to make up for it tonight, in Portland.
