NBA legend Michael Jordan has once again demonstrated his commitment to giving back to the community by opening his fourth health clinic for the uninsured in North Carolina. The latest addition to the Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic network is located in Wilmington, Jordan’s hometown, and officially began welcoming patients on February 19, 2025.

The new 7,300-square-foot facility features 12 patient rooms and operates on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It aims to provide comprehensive primary care services to individuals who are uninsured or underinsured, addressing a critical need in the community. This clinic is the second one opened in Wilmington, following the success of the first clinic that served nearly 1,800 patients in its first nine months.

Jordan’s philanthropic efforts in healthcare began in 2019 when he partnered with Novant Health to launch the first two clinics in Charlotte. These clinics were strategically placed to address barriers to care, such as transportation, and have since provided essential medical services to many patients who had never had a primary care visit before. Building on this success, Jordan donated $10 million to the Novant Health foundations, enabling the expansion of the clinic network to Wilmington.

The impact of these clinics has been profound, offering a sense of hope and improved health outcomes for countless individuals and families.

“It’s truly gratifying to know that in less than a year, our first Novant clinic in Wilmington has already made a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of individuals and families in my hometown,” Jordan said.

In addition to primary care services, the new clinic will have a community health worker to assist patients with accessing community resources. Both Wilmington clinics also support the work of Novant Health’s Community Care Cruiser, which further extends healthcare services across the region.
