The Cleveland Cavaliers achieved a monumental milestone on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Los Angeles Clippers 127-122 at home to secure their 60th win of the season. This marks only the third time in franchise history that the Cavaliers have reached the 60-win plateau—and notably, it is the first time they have done so without LeBron James leading the team.

The Cavaliers’ victory included standout performances from multiple players. Jarrett Allen led the charge with 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Donovan Mitchell contributed 24 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, narrowly missing a triple-double. Evan Mobley added 22 points and three blocks, showcasing his defensive prowess and offensive versatility. Darius Garland also chipped in with 19 points, including clutch free throws in the final seconds to seal the win.

The Clippers, missing Kawhi Leonard due to injury management, put up a valiant fight. Norman Powell led all scorers with 34 points, and James Harden added 24 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.

This 60-win season is a significant milestone for the Cavaliers, who last reached this mark during the 2009-10 campaign, LeBron James’ final season in his first stint with the team. The franchise’s best record remains 66-16, achieved in the 2008-09 season, also with James at the helm. However, this year’s accomplishment carries a unique weight, as it represents the team’s ability to thrive and excel in a new era.

The Cavaliers have faced their share of adversity this season, including a four-game losing streak earlier in March. However, they have rebounded strongly, winning four of their last five games and maintaining a 4.5-game lead over the Boston Celtics for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

After the game, Jarrett Allen stole the show and brought some serious smiles to the postgame press conference. Allen surprised everyone by wearing a “Let Em Meow” T-shirt—a playful nod to his love for cats and the Cavaliers’ slogan, “Let ‘Em Know.”

The story began when Allen discovered the shirt in his locker after the game. Whether the Cavaliers’ staff had placed the shirt there as a joke, or a fan had it reach Allen, is unknown. Allen, who has embraced his reputation as a “cat dad,” decided to lean into the joke and wore the shirt to the press conference.

“It was in my locker…. I might sleep in this shirt!”
