Could Jrue Holiday And Kristaps Porzingis Be On The Move? Celtics Face A Looming Reality Check

The Boston Celtics are locked in on repeating as NBA champions, sitting second in the East and looking playoff-ready. But once the postseason is over, they’ll have to figure out to manage their payroll and whether it makes sense to keep their core intact.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the foundation, no doubt. But the additions of Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White have made Boston more complete on both ends. The issue is, keeping everyone comes with a price. A high one. And that’s where things get complicated.

For all their strength, Boston may have to let go of something. Now, one cap analyst brought up the idea of moving Porzingis and/or Holiday to regain flexibility. Holiday, while still impactful, has started to slow down a bit, and Porzingis’ health is always a gamble. Both come with high price tags.

Via Jake Fisher, The Stein Line:

“‘They’re going to have to trade some guys at some point,’ one team capologist told The Stein Line. The two major salaries that league figures are monitoring in possible future trades: Kristaps Porziņģis and Jrue Holiday.”
