Detroit Pistons guard Marcus Sasser found himself in a lighthearted moment during Friday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors. After draining a tough three-pointer in the second quarter, Sasser instinctively began to mimic Ja Morant’s now-infamous finger gun celebration. However, in a split second, he hilariously caught himself mid-gesture, pulling his hands back and visibly reacting to the realization of what he was about to do.
Sasser’s expression of regret and amusement said it all—he was clearly reminded of the NBA’s crackdown on such celebrations. Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant had recently been fined $75,000 for using the same gesture, sending a strong message across the league about the consequences of such actions.
