Michael Jordan and LeBron James have led the GOAT debate for years, but WNBA legend Sue Bird now seems to be framing it as a three-man race by tossing Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry into the mix.
The moment came during a conversation between Bird, Diana Taurasi, and Orlando Magic defensive guard Jalen Suggs. After Suggs named Curry as his toughest assignment and Taurasi called the Warriors sharpshooter underrated, Bird ran with it and delivered a massive compliment of her own.
“He should be up there with like LeBron and Jordan,” Bird stated. “I really believe that.”

Curry is a four-time NBA champion and the greatest shooter ever, but the GOAT discussion has largely stayed just above him. Still, Bird’s take felt like cracking a window open. And with another title still within reach, that door might open even more.
Curry and the Warriors currently sit at 46–32 and have flipped the narrative after adding Jimmy Butler midseason. With this turnaround, the stage is set for Curry to make one more statement.
