Amid the champagne showers and celebrations, an unexpected and hilarious incident unfolded in the Celtics locker room—a story that Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett recently recounted.
After defeating the Lakers 131-92 in Game 6, the Celtics were in high spirits, celebrating their hard-earned victory. The locker room was a scene of pure joy, with players, coaches, and staff reveling in the moment. However, amidst the chaos, a random fan managed to sneak into the locker room unnoticed.
As Pierce and Garnett recalled during a podcast episode, the fan blended in so seamlessly that no one initially questioned his presence. Garnett described the scene:
“We’re sitting here. About an hour goes by, man, we’re talking about everything. Finally, Paul goes, ‘My man, who you with?’ He’s like, ‘Man, I’m just here, I’m just a fan.’”
The fan had been sitting comfortably, drinking beer, and enjoying the celebration as if he were part of the team.
Pierce, initially thinking the man might be a staff member or a relative of one of the players, was stunned when the truth came out.
“Man, you were supposed to say, ‘I’m with TA [Tony Allen],’ you weren’t supposed to say that,” Pierce joked.
Once the fan’s identity was revealed, the locker room security personnel sprang into action. Garnett recounted how the security guard reached for his firearm to remove the intruder, but Garnett intervened, opting for a more diplomatic approach.
“You get your a** up out of here,” Garnett said, laughing off the situation.
Despite the breach, Garnett and Pierce couldn’t help but admire the fan’s audacity and composure.
“Shout out to you, bro,” Garnett said. “We had a dope hour with you, bro. That sh** was funny.”
