Kevin Durant Back To The Bay This Offseason? Trade Would Likely Include Draymond Green

This might not be the best time to bring it up since the Golden State Warriors are gearing up for the playoffs, but Kevin Durant, the two-time Finals MVP and key part of their dynasty, is expected to be available this offseason. It would be another real opportunity for the franchise to explore a reunion.

If Golden State wins it all this year, this conversation probably ends before it even starts. But if they fall short, the idea of reuniting with Durant becomes a little more interesting. The Warriors already made calls about him at the trade deadline, so the interest clearly exists.

The reality, though, is that Durant is still under contract. He won’t be a free agent, so the only way this happens is through a trade. That would require a serious package going the other way. Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey recently suggested a possible framework that could make it work

“The Deal: Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga (sign-and-trade), Buddy Hield, a 2026 first-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick for Kevin Durant.

A team led by Curry, Durant and Jimmy Butler would be one of the older ones in the league, but it’d be a nightmare to defend. And while Butler isn’t the same defender as Draymond, he can still set a tone on that end.

As for Phoenix, this deal would give them some draft capital, which it desperately needs. A 22-year-old, up-and-coming scorer with high-end athleticism (even relative to other NBA players) is a good building block for a team that needs a restart. And Hield would give it a movable contract, or a floor spacer to open things up for Kuminga.”
