2K Explains Dwyane Wade Over Dirk Nowitzki Cover Decision For NBA 2K20 Legend Edition

After this past season had ended, two of the league’s biggest icons retired from the game. Both Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade called it a career.

But even though Dirk Nowitzki likely leaves the greater legacy and ranks higher in the NBA’s all time rankings, it was Dwyane Wade who received cover honors for NBA 2K20’s Legend Edition.

2K senior producer Erick Boenisch now explained why they decided to choose Dwyane Wade over Dirk Nowitzki.

“There wasn’t like a really great reason. You got to pick someone, right? Dwyane Wade is a very beloved player – not that Dirk isn’t, because everyone loves Dirk. 21 years, same team? That’s incredible. No one’s done that. [But] Wade is just an iconic player. He played with Shaq who is someone we’ve worked with; he played with Kobe who’s someone we’ve worked with. He’s a hall-of-famer. So, you know, the time will come for everybody.”
