Joel Embiid On All-Star Votes
The first results of the All-Star fan voting were published this past week and, as always, we were in for a lot of surprises. Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid has received the third most votes in the Eastern Conference, with 433, 161 votes. He is only trailing Giannis Antetokounmpo, who surprisingly came in first, and LeBron James.
Embiid was asked for his reaction by NBC Sports’ Jessica Camerato and was very pleased about the numbers, but also said that the All-Star game isn’t his main goal or focus.
“I like my chances. I have a pretty good chance. I was actually surprised. Last year at this time, I don’t think I had that many votes. It just shows you how hard I’ve been working and the support that the fans and the faith that they have in me, I really appreciate that. I can’t wait to keep on going. At the end of the day, it’s all about the wins. If I make the All-Star game, good. But I want to win. I want to be in the playoffs.”
