Giannis Antetokounmpo To Become First Foreign-Born Player With Nike Signature Shoe
Giannis not only has become one of the best players in this league, his advertising value also has exploded. Antetokounmpo’s rookie footwear and apparel endorsement contract with Nike has ended before this season started, and thus began the bidding war for the Greek Freak’s next shoe deal, which Nike won in the end.
Antetokounmpo has signed a multi-year deal with Nike. While the exact contract terms are yet to be publically announced, it is certain that this new endorsment deal is worth much more than the previous rookie contract, of which Giannis only made $25,000 a year.
Nike CEO Mark Parker made public that Nike will add a new signature basketball athlete this year, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“We’re thrilled to expand our relationship with Giannis Antetokounmpo as we bring his unique personality to life through new signature product and storytelling next year.”
This means that the Milwaukee Bucks superstar will be the first foreign-born player with a signature Nike shoe.
Milwaukee plans to open a new $500M facility next season, and Giannis will soon become the first foreign-born player to have his own signature shoe from Nike. #60Minutes
