Bucks Rookie Donte DiVincenzo Doesn’t Even Have $4 In His Bank Account
According to a 2009 Sports Illustrated article, an estimated 60% of NBA players go bankrupt within five years of retirement.
A lot has changed in these past 9 years, as a lot more money is to be earned in today’s NBA. Yet, there still are enough former players going bankrupt after their careers, just not the 60% from 2009.
What won’t ever change until the NCAA allows college players to earn money is that players start their career being dead-poor. We know Jeremy Lin lived on his brother’s or some of his teammates’ coach for half a year for example.
The newest member of the ‘I can’t wait until my first NBA paycheck’ club is Milwaukee Bucks rookie Donte DiVincenzo. His teammate D.J. Wilson posted a photo of DiVincenzo’s bank account, and he’s down to $3.71 in checking and savings.
Donte DiVincenzo could reaaaaaally use that first paycheck, @Bucks.

Thankfully for Donte, this problem won’t be for too long, as he’ll soon add a couple of zeros to that number.
