Stephen Curry Wanted To Be Drafted By The New York Knicks In 2009
Wow! The following must be pretty tough for New York Knicks fans.
It’s hard to imagine three-time NBA Champion, and two-time MVP, Stephen Curry not wearing a Golden State Warriors jersey.
We all know this famous picture from the draft board showing the Timberwolves pick Jonny Flynn instead of Stephen Curry, and the Knicks being left without their preferred pick, after the Golden State Warriors took Curry off the board with the seventh pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.
While we know that the Knicks wanted Curry, we didn’t know that Curry also wanted to go to the Knicks… until now!
“When I got drafted, I wanted to go to New York. I thought I was going to New York. I was in the Green Room like ‘oh get to the eight spot, so New York could get me. Then I got the call from Larry Riley [Then GM of the Warriors]: ‘Ok, we’re going to pick you in the seventh spot’.”
