the best teams in NBA history.
85-86 Celtics
The greatest Celtic team to ever win a championship featured three hall of famers – Larry Bird, Kevin Mchale and Robert Parrish. They formed a deadly trio that demolished other teams on their way to victory. They led their team to an impressive 67-15 record in the regular season and only lost 3 games in the playoffs. Danny Ainge also was an important member of the championship team, being a lethal three point shooter.
86-87 Lakers
The Lakers finished their season with 65 wins and also only lost three times in the playoffs that year. They stopped Boston from winning their 3rd title in four seasons in a six game series. The team was led by an impressive performance by Magic Johnson who averaged 23.9 points and 12.2 assists for the season. Other important players include James Worthy, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, A.C. Green, Byron Scott, Kurt Rambis and Michael Cooper. This season was the highlight of the Lakers’ dominance in the eighties. It’s arguably the best season the Lakers ever had, even tho players like Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal might disagree.

88-89 Pistons
Being one of the most hated teams of all time, the 89’ Pistons succeeded in sweeping the Lakers in the Finals. They’re one of very few teams to ever accomplish sweeping an opponent in the Finals. They’ve had a regular season record of 63-19. The best “badboys” on this team were Isiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman, Bill Laimbeer and Joe Dumars. They lost only 2 games in their entire playoff run, getting both losses from the Bulls led by Michael Jordan. The Pistons would win another title the next season but their 89’ season stays the most memorable.

95-96 Bulls
Many people consider this to be the best team in NBA history. A certain shooting guard named Michael Jordan led his team to their 4th title in franchise history. Jordan got a lot of help from teammates Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Steve Kerr. The 96’ Bulls still hold the record for most wins in a single season, finishing the season with a 72-10 record. The Bulls lost no more than 3 games in the playoff.
00-01 Lakers
This historic Lakers team featured Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. They are considered one of the best duo’s to ever play in the NBA. Finishing the season with a 56-26 record, the Lakers were looking to win their 2nd title in a row. Bryant and O’Neal combined for 57.2 points per game in the regular season and 59.4 ppg in the playoffs. This led to them only losing one single game in their entire playoff run. The two ended up winning even more titles later, one of them together. It was one of the most memorable seasons for both Hall of Famers (Y’all know that Kobe will be in the HoF sooner than later).
15-16 Warriors
The Golden State Warriors havn’t even finished their season yet, but with two games to go, they have a record of 71-9. They’re chasing the historical record of 72 wins held by the 96’ Bulls. Even though this team has yet to start their playoff run, they’re the absolute favorite to win back to back titles. The team is led by (back-to-back) MVP candidate Stephen Curry who’s averaging 30 PPG and is on pace to finish with 400 three pointers for the season. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are the two other great contributors to this impressive season. The team is coached by 95-96 Chicago Bulls teammember Steve Kerr.
Honorable mentions: 12-13 Heat, 70-71 Bucks, 07-08 Celtics, 71-72 Lakers, 96-97 Bulls!
