John Wall Fully Healthy Again: “I Averaged 20 On One Leg, Imagine If I Had Two Legs?”
John Wall hasn’t played a game of professional basketball since December 26, 2018, when the Wizards star suffered a ruptured Achilles.
Before the global coronavirus pandemic, we got to see various clips of Wall dunking in pre-game warmups, jumping off and landing on his injured foot, while looking pretty healthy.
He was also already playing 1-on-1 against some of the Washington assistant coaches again, and now has had even more time to fully recover from his injury and prepare for the new season.
Washington Wizards owner Ted Leonsis is already very excited about the return of Wall, and expects him to be in a much better place, and without pain for the first time in ages.
People forget that Wall was a full-blown superstar in this league, a player who was considered to be one of the best point guards of his time. In his last fully healthy season 2017, Wall averaged 23.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 10.7 assists and 2.0 steals, and in an interview with Gilbert Arenas for his ‘No Chill with Gilbert Arenas’ show, he now revealed that he was basically doing so on one leg.
During his rehab, Wall learned how to listen to his body and explained how thoughts on the long term future changed his mentality when it comes to “playing through the pain”.
