Sterling Brown Agreed To $750K Settlement With City Of Milwaukee

On January 26, 2018, Milwaukee Bucks wingman Sterling Brown, who was still a rookie back then, was tased and arrested by the police.

At that time, Milwaukee Police explained the rookie was arrested while “an electronic control device was deployed” to detain him. Why? His car was parked across two handicapped spaces outside a Walgreens, in the middle of the night.

Following many opposing statements from the parties involved, the body cam video of the incident was released to the public, and rightfully caused a lot of controversy, because it showed just how unjustified the actions taken by the police had been.

Following the incident, Brown filed a lawsuit against the Milwaukee Police. After almost three years, Brown has now reached a $750,000 settlement with the city of Milwaukee. But for Brown it was about more than just financial compensation. per ESPN:

“I’ve got plenty of people going through the same thing in Chicago and back at home. So I know it’s happening in Milwaukee, so I’m pretty much being that voice for those who don’t have the platform that I have to make this national news.”
