ESPN Tried To Reunite Skip Bayless & Stephen A. Smith But Skip Signed Massive $32M Deal With Fox Sports Instead
Last year, ESPN made Stephen A. Smith its highest-paid sportscaster ever, when they signed him to a new five-year contract. The annual salary for the broadcasting legend sums up to nearly $8 million, according to various reports.
Now, ESPN tried its all to reunite Smith with Skip Bayless. According to the New York Post, the two would have done a daily ESPN+ show together, with other projects all over ESPN, including weekly spots on the “Monday Night Football” halftime show.
But unfortunately for ESPN, after long negotiations, Fox Sports went all-in and was able to retain Bayless by offering him a four-year, $32 million contract.
