Alex Rodriguez Wants To Move Timberwolves To Seattle
A couple of weeks ago, billionaire Marc Lore and baseball legend Alex Rodriguez reached an agreement to purchase the Minnesota Timberwolves from Glen Taylor for $1.5 billion. The two are equal, 50-50 partners in the purchase and will from now on be the co-owners of the franchise.
Contrary to previous reports and statements, the takeover contract does not appear to prohibit the new owners from moving the team, which is something Rodriguez wants to do. The former Mariner wants to move the franchise to Seattle, per Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press:
There’s buzz now that Kevin Garnett, who is said to be worth more than $200 million, will be heavily involved in the Timberwolves basketball department if he joins franchise investors Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore if/when they gain full control in 2023. The word is Garnett, the ex-Timberwolf, wants the franchise to remain in Minnesota but Rodriguez wants to move it to Seattle, where he played for seven seasons.
