Scottie Pippen Doubles Down On His Phil Jackson Being A Racist Take

Ever since his GQ interview, Scottie Pippen’s been very present in the basketball media.

In the interview, Pippen was firing on all cylinders and took shots at virtually anyone in the basketball world. Pippen, for example, called Phil Jackson’s decision to draw up the Bulls’ final shot for Toni Kukoc instead of him a ‘racial move’

In 1994, when Jordan briefly played baseball, Phil Jackson drew up the final shot for rookie Toni Kukoc in the second round of the playoffs. Back then, Pippen was so upset by the decision that he removed himself from the game. 

Pippen told GQ:

“I don’t think it’s a mystery, you need to read between the fine lines. It was my first year playing without Michael Jordan, why wouldn’t I be taking that last shot? I been through all the ups and downs, the battles with the Pistons and now you gonna insult me and tell me to take it out? I thought it was a pretty low blow. I felt like it was an opportunity to give [Kukoc] a rise. It was a racial move to give him a rise. After all I’ve been through with this organization, now you’re gonna tell me to take the ball out and throw it to Toni Kukoc? You’re insulting me. That’s how I felt.”

Then, yesterday, Pippen was guest on the ‘Dan Patrick Show’ and doubled down on his statement, while eventually saying that he thinks Phil Jackson is a racist.

Dan Patrick: “By saying ‘a racial move’ then you’re calling Phil [Jackson] a racist…”

Scottie Pippen: “I don’t have a problem with that.”

Dan Patrick: “Do you think Phil was, or is?”

Scottie Pippen: “Oh yeah…”
