A 12-0 run to end the game, in which Mavericks player Nicolo Melli had seven points was enough to bring Italy the victory over Germany.

It was a great game with both teams showing that they could potentially cause some upsets during these Olympics. Germany started hot and made the lions share of their three point attempts through the first three quarters, but they got cold at the worst possible moment – in the clutch towards the end of the game. Germany even missed their final eight shots.

Maodo Lo lead all scores with his 24 points for Germany, Danilo Gallinari and Stefano Tonut each scored 18 for Italy.
