ESPN Host Mike Greenberg Projects The New Orleans Pelicans To Become A Top-4 Team In The West If Zion Williamson Stays Healthy
The New Orleans Pelicans remained competitive last season even without the presence of former first overall pick Zion Williamson. With Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum at the helm, the Pelicans found their way into the eight seed and earned a slot in the NBA playoffs.
After showing a ton of promise last season, there’s some great hope moving forward for the Pelicans as Williamson nears his return from an injured foot that sidelined him for more than a year.
The last time Williamson was healthy, he averaged 27.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game on 61.1% shooting and ended up becoming the fourth youngest NBA player to be selected to an All-Star game.
Many people believe that the Pelicans with a healthy Williamson could turn out to be a legitimate playoff team in the Western Conference next season. ESPN host Mike Greenberg is one of those believers.
Appearing on ESPN’s Get Up, Greenberg claimed that the Pelicans could become a top-four team in the West if Williamson plays at least 60 games.
“If Zion Williamson plays 60 games this season. … The combination of your two Duke guys, of Zion and Brandon Ingram. I believe when the playoffs begin this year, they would have home-court advantage. They will be a top-four team in the Western Conference.”
