With the NBA Draft now in the books, teams have added promising young players to their rosters, including the Golden State Warriors, who are determined to strengthen the team and bounce back following their second-round exit in the recent NBA playoffs.
Entering the draft with a first-round selection at No.19, the Warriors opted for Brandin Podziemski, a promising 20-year-old combo guard from Santa Clara. Podziemski showcased his prowess in his last year of college, averaging 19.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game, which ultimately led to him being named the WCC Co-Player of the Year.
Speaking to the media after the draft, the newly-acquired Warriors guard expressed confidence in his own skills and readiness to compete at the NBA level. Making a bold statement, Podziemski says that he can be a triple-double threat within a few seasons.
Per Mercury News:
“For me, I’m one of the smartest, if not the smartest player in this draft class,” said Podziemski. “That just meshes well with guys who know how to play basketball. And you put me out there with a lot of guys who have the same IQ level as me, I think it’s just ultimate success. So I think I’ll be ready to go day one. In a few seasons, I think I’m a triple-double guy in the NBA,” he added.
