Denver Nuggets Voted As The Worst 2024 Offseason Team Over The Los Angeles Lakers

Following their 2023 NBA championship, the Denver Nuggets’ year took a turn for the worse. A disappointing playoff exit was followed by an underwhelming offseason, leading them to be crowned the team with the worst offseason in the NBA this summer.

While Dario Saric and Russell Westbrook were interesting additions, losing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for nothing was a significant blow to their roster. To make things worse, rookie DaRon Holmes II, acquired in a trade for two first-round picks and two future second-round picks, suffered a season-ending Achilles injury.

The recent poll of coaches, scouts, and executives reflects this sentiment, with the Nuggets being voted as having the worst offseason in the league. This marks the third consecutive year that the Nuggets have topped the Los Angeles Lakers, but this time it’s for all the wrong reasons.

The Nuggets received the most votes with six, followed by the Chicago Bulls with five. The Los Angeles Clippers tallied four votes, while the Lakers, New York Knicks, and Detroit Pistons each garnered one.

Per ESPN:

“Similarly, the majority of the votes went to three teams: Denver, after seeing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope leave as a free agent to the Orlando Magic; Chicago, after trading both Caruso and DeMar DeRozan and not getting a first-round pick in either deal (and watching the San Antonio Spurs get the best asset, a 2031 pick swap from the Kings, in the DeRozan deal); and the Clippers, for letting George leave for nothing in free agency.”
