Indiana Pacers rookie Kyle Mangas didn’t hold back when discussing the media’s treatment of Bronny James. Mangas, known for his straightforward demeanor, highlighted what he perceives as a double standard in the way the media covers young players, particularly those with famous parents.
Mangas, who has been making waves with his impressive performances, expressed frustration over the intense scrutiny and expectations placed on Bronny.
“There’s so much media surrounding him. We would get off the bus at our hotel, and there’d be 250 people waiting for him to get off just to film and walk into the hotel,” Mangas said during an appearance on the Locked On Pacers Podcast. “You’ve got to feel for a kid like that. There’s just a lot of pressure and publicity, and that’s hard to get away from sometimes. I think he handled it pretty well from what I saw,”
The rookie, who surprisingly played on the Lakers’ summer league squad, pointed out that while Bronny’s every move is dissected and analyzed, other young players are given more leeway to develop at their own pace.
