Bronny James’ debut jersey from the NBA Summer League has fetched an astonishing price at auction, highlighting the immense interest and excitement surrounding the young athlete’s entry into professional basketball.

The jersey, worn during James’ first Summer League game with the Los Angeles Lakers, was sold at Sotheby’s “Summer League Selects” auction. The final bid reached an impressive $38,400, far surpassing the expected range of $6,000 to $10,000.

To put this into perspective, the jersey of Zaccharie Risacher, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, sold for $3,360, while Reed Sheppard’s jersey, the No. 3 pick, fetched $15,600. Even more striking is the comparison to Victor Wembanyama’s Summer League debut jersey, which sold for $62,020 last year. Bronny’s jersey nearly matched the price of a game-worn jersey by his father, LeBron James, which sold for $42,000.

Bronny’s performance in the Summer League was modest but showed promise. Over six games, he averaged 7.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. His shooting percentages were 32.7% from the field, 13% from three-point range, and 62.5% from the free-throw line. Despite these average stats, the hype surrounding his debut and the potential for his future career significantly boosted the auction price of his jersey.
