Boston Celtics guard Derrick White found himself at the center of an altercation during the college football game between Colorado and Colorado State on Saturday. The incident occurred in the stands at Canvas Stadium, where White was supporting his alma mater, the Colorado Buffaloes.

Witnesses reported that the altercation began as a verbal confrontation between White and a fan wearing Colorado State colors. As tensions escalated, the fan struck White in the head with a spinning backfist, knocking White’s hat off. The blow was captured on video, which quickly circulated on social media.

Security personnel and other spectators intervened to separate the parties involved, preventing the situation from escalating further. Despite the chaos, White remained composed and was seen walking away from the scene shortly after.

White, who played for the Colorado Buffaloes basketball team from 2015 to 2017, has had a remarkable year. He played a pivotal role in leading the Celtics to their first NBA title in 16 years and recently signed a four-year, $125.9 million contract extension with Boston. Additionally, he won a gold medal with Team USA in August.

The altercation did not overshadow the Buffaloes’ dominant performance on the field, as they secured a convincing 28-9 victory over their in-state rivals. No police report was filed regarding the incident, and White has not commented publicly on the matter.
