Eric Kilburn Jr., a teenager from Goodrich, Michigan, who once received custom shoes from NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, has now set two Guinness World Records. Eric, who went viral last year due to his struggle to find shoes that fit his size 23 feet, has been recognized for having the largest feet and hands for a living teenager.
Eric’s story first captured public attention when his mother, Rebecca Kilburn, made a desperate plea for help in finding shoes for her son. Standing at 6 feet 11 inches, Eric’s feet measure an astonishing 13.5 inches, and his hands measure 9.13 inches from wrist to the tip of his middle finger. The family’s plight resonated with many, including Shaquille O’Neal, who himself wears size 22 shoes. Shaq sent Eric custom-made shoes and other essentials, providing much-needed relief and support.
Now 16 years old, Eric has officially been recognized in the 2025 edition of the Guinness World Records book. His records for the largest feet and hands on a teenager are celebrated with a dedicated page, complete with photos and a detailed account of his journey. Eric expressed his excitement, saying,
“I never imagined that it could be me in that book. It’s a cool distinction. I think it’s exciting to be that person — someone to look up to”.
Finding shoes that fit has been a significant challenge for Eric. His family made countless calls to various shoe companies, often facing rejection because he wasn’t a collegiate or professional athlete. However, the media attention and support from brands like Under Armour and Puma eventually led to custom solutions. Shaquille O’Neal’s involvement went beyond just providing shoes; he also offered guidance on handling media attention and the pressures of sudden fame.
Despite an ankle injury that currently keeps him from playing sports, Eric has big plans for the future. He hopes to compete in shotput and discus in track and field next spring. Meanwhile, he continues to embrace his newfound fame, often recognized in public as “that kid from Goodrich with the big feet”.
