On Sunday, the Detroit Pistons had to take the New York City subway to reach their game against the Brooklyn Nets. The decision came as a result of the massive gridlock caused by the New York City Marathon, which closed down many major avenues throughout the city.
The Pistons, who were scheduled to play at the Barclays Center at 3:30 p.m., opted for the No. 3 train to avoid the marathon traffic. The team’s official Instagram account shared videos and photos of the players commuting like any other New Yorker, capturing the moment as they hopped on the subway with their game-day luggage.
Players such as Cade Cunningham, Tobias Harris, and Isaiah Stewart were seen navigating the subway alongside regular commuters, ducking under the subway’s threshold and finding seats among the bustling crowd.

Despite the unconventional travel method, the Pistons managed to pull off a solid performance, defeating the Nets 106-92. Fans and social media users found the situation amusing, with many suggesting that the subway ride might become a pre-game ritual for the team when playing in the Big Apple.
