The rumor mill is doing what it does best, and unsurprisingly, Zach LaVine, Brandon Ingram and Jimmy Butler are the headliners. Not far behind, players like Jerami Grant, Cam Johnson, and Kyle Kuzma are also being discussed as valuable additions for teams looking to make a push.
When names like these hit the rumor mill, you’ve got to wonder if the Golden State Warriors are paying attention. They want to get back to being that dominant championship version of themselves, but there’s no denying the absence of a true No. 2 option like they’ve had in the past. Should they push their chips in now to fill that void?
Right now, the Warriors are holding it down, with guys like Buddy Hield, Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga stepping up when needed. Of course, pairing a star like Butler, LaVine, or Ingram with Curry would seem like the perfect recipe for a deep playoff run. But former NBA player Trevor Ariza’s recent comments suggest that the Warriors should be careful not to rush into a blockbuster move too soon.
“With those names? Probably not,” Ariza said. “I would wait. I would slow down, again, playing the way they play, with that culture, it’s a different culture. The guys that you named or that we’ve been talking about or that’s out there right now, I don’t see how they fit in that space. So, I would just slow down.”
