Last week, we reported that ‘Inside the NBA’ will continue to air on ESPN and ABC starting next season as part of a settlement between Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and the NBA.
However, will the cast really be the same? Turns out, we don’t know for sure yet, as it has been reported that Shaquille O’Neal does not currently have a contract to continue with “Inside the NBA” as the show transitions from TNT to ESPN next season.
While Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith have all secured their spots on the show, Shaq’s future remains uncertain. Sources indicate that O’Neal’s contract with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) expires on July 1, 2025, and he has a different deal compared to his castmates, as his contract is strictly for NBA-related work.
Despite the uncertainty, the four-time champion has expressed a desire to remain part of the show, but he is reportedly frustrated with the lack of official confirmation regarding his return. The chemistry between Shaq and Barkley, in particular, has been a highlight of the show, and fans are hopeful that O’Neal will continue to be part of the team.
As negotiations continue, Shaq still has time to strike a deal with either WBD, ESPN, or other potential suitors like Amazon or NBC before the next season begins. The basketball community is optimistic that Shaq will be back at the desk, bringing his unique charisma to the show.
