Air New Zealand has unveiled its newest onboard safety video, titled “Every Point Counts,” featuring none other than Kiwi basketball star Steven Adams.
The video, which began screening on November 14, 2024, showcases Adams in a friendly basketball game with a group of Kiwi kids, highlighting the importance of safety in a fun and engaging way.
Adams, who has become a household name in the NBA, expressed his excitement about being part of the project.
“It was awesome to be part of a project that involved young people and the community,” Adams said. “It was fun to have Val in the video too. As a younger brother, at first, I was like ‘man, get out of my video!’ but it’s cool to do a family collab – it was a special moment.”
The video also features cameos from other well-known Kiwis, including Adams’ sister, Olympic legend Dame Valerie Adams, comedian Tom Sainsbury, sports broadcaster Andrew Mulligan, and TikTok star Theo Shakes. The video takes viewers on a journey from the beachside courts of Orewa to an epic stadium setting, emphasizing the importance of safety while entertaining passengers.
Air New Zealand CEO Greg Foran praised Adams’ involvement, saying,
“We’re thrilled to have Kiwi icon Steven Adams join the Air New Zealand safety video whānau. His journey from Rotorua to the bright lights of international basketball has inspired countless fans to chase their dreams, making him the perfect fit to take to the court in the leading role.”
The airline’s latest safety video aims to be both informative and entertaining, ensuring passengers stay engaged while learning essential safety information. With Adams’ star power and the fun basketball theme, Air New Zealand hopes to make safety a memorable part of every flight.
