In a thrilling overtime battle on Friday night, Trae Young delivered an unforgettable performance, leading the Atlanta Hawks to a 134-132 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Young scored 31 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer with just 7.4 seconds left in overtime, and dished out 20 assists, marking his 12th career game with 30 points and 10 assists.
With the game tied at 119 and the final possession in regulation, Young’s initial attempt was blocked, but he remained composed. In overtime, he seized the opportunity, hitting the go-ahead 3-pointer to secure the win for the Hawks. LeBron James had a chance to respond for the Lakers, but his long 3-pointer was off, sealing the victory for Atlanta.
Young wasn’t alone in his efforts. De’Andre Hunter contributed 26 points, and Bogdan Bogdanovic added 20 points, with the Hawks’ reserves outscoring their Lakers counterparts 65-17. Despite a strong performance from the Lakers’ duo of LeBron James (39 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists) and Anthony Davis (38 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists), it wasn’t enough to overcome Young’s heroics.
After Young became the first player in franchise history to have at least 30 points and 20 assists in a single game, even Lakers coach JJ Redick raved about his offensive game
“Offensively, he always been a juggernaut”

This win marks the Hawks’ sixth consecutive victory – the Lakers, on the other hand, have now lost three straight games and seven of their last nine. The Hawks will look to continue their winning streak as they host the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night, while the Lakers return home to face the Portland Trail Blazers.
