San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of support he and his family have received since he suffered a mild stroke on November 2, 2024.
The NBA’s all-time winningest coach took a moment to acknowledge the overwhelming kindness from fans, the Spurs organization, and his loved ones.
Popovich’s statement began with a reflection on the unexpected turn his life had taken over the past six weeks.
“This has certainly been an unexpected six weeks for my family and me,” he wrote. “As we work together on my recovery, I want to take a moment to share that the outpouring of support we’ve received during this time has been truly overwhelming in the best possible way.”
Popovich went on to express his deep appreciation for the community that has stood by him.
“While I wish I could get back to each one of you, for now, let me say that my family and I are forever grateful,” he said.
He extended his thanks to the entire Spurs organization, his family, and friends, emphasizing the importance of their support in his rehabilitation process.
However, despite the challenges, Popovich thankfully hasn’t lost his wit and sense of humor, as he added,
“They’ve quickly learned that I’m less than coachable,”
As Gregg Popovich continues his journey towards recovery, we wish him a speedy and full recovery.
