The iconic championship banners of the Chicago Bulls, commemorating their six NBA titles from the 1990s, have been temporarily removed from the United Center after sustaining damage during a concert last weekend. The banners were affected by pyrotechnics used during a performance by the Disturbed.
The concert, which also featured Three Days Grace and Sevendust, included a pyrotechnic display that generated extreme heat, causing visible warping to the bottom halves of the banners. United Center staff discovered the damage shortly after the event and promptly removed the banners for assessment and repairs.

According to a statement from the arena, the damage is considered “minor,” and the banners are expected to be restored and rehung quickly.
While the championship banners were affected, other banners in the rafters—honoring division and conference titles, as well as retired jersey numbers—remained unscathed. The Chicago Blackhawks’ championship banners, which also hang in the United Center, were similarly unaffected.
