The Phoenix Suns’ playoff hopes are officially over, and now comes the fallout. Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker were supposed to be a problem for everyone else, but it just didn’t happen.
Maybe we should’ve seen it coming. There was superteam talk, but from day one, critics questioned whether three high-volume scorers could truly mesh. Despite coaching changes and roster tweaks, those doubts proved to be right.
After a season like this, running it back doesn’t seem realistic, especially with the Suns holding the most expensive roster in the NBA. And if you ask Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, it sure sounds like the Suns are cleaning things up, starting with Beal and Durant.
Per Sports Illustrated:
“There’s a zero percent chance Bradley Beal is back on this team next year. Zero percent. Kevin Durant, I think they’re going to trade Kevin Durant, I think there’s about a 95% chance they’re going to trade Kevin Durant … There’s no wiggle room (for Beal).
